Class of 2018 Graduation Practice and Ceremony Information

The Class of 2018 graduation ceremony will be held on Thursday May 17th at 6:00 P.M. at McKenzie Arena.  Seniors must attend graduation practice at 10:30 am on May 17th to be eligible to participate in the ceremony that evening. Practice will begin promptly at 10:30 am. Seniors have to be in their seats with their name cards ready to begin. Name cards that have not been picked up by that time will be removed from the list.

To be eligible for graduation participation, you have to complete all Hamilton County requirements. This includes but not limited to all classwork in current courses at Ooltewah High School and credit recovery completed for past failures. This work has to be completed by the end of the school day Wednesday May 16th. After graduation, seniors who have not completed their requirements have until June 30th to complete them to be included in this 2018 graduation class. Diplomas will be held until all requirements are met.


Practice

Graduation practice will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday May 17th (the day of graduation). The following rules for graduation must be followed:

 

·         YOU MUST ATTEND PRACTICE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CEREMONY

·         BE AT THE ARENA AND IN YOUR ASSIGNED SEAT BY 10:30 AM! THIS MEANS ARIVING BY 10:00 SO THAT YOU CAN GET YOUR CARD AND FIND YOUR SEAT. TRAFFIC COULD BE HEAVY SO PLAN ACCORDINGLY

·         WHEN YOU ARRIVE PARK IN THE PARKING LOT LOCATED ON 4TH STREET ACROSS FROM THE ARENA (BY THE BLOOD ASSURANCE BUILDING). YOU WILL NEED TO PARK IN THE SAME AREA FOR THE CEREMONY THAT NIGHT.

·         YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN DRESS CODE HOWEVER YOUR ATTIRE MUST BE APPROPRIATE AND SIMILLAR TO DRESS DOWN ATTIRE.


Graduation Ceremony

To participate in the ceremony you must have completed ALL HAMILTON COUNTY requirements and attend the graduation practice. The following rules must be followed during the ceremony.

·         YOU MUST ATTEND PRACTICE

·         DRESS CODE IS THE SAME AS CLASS NIGHT EXCEPT GUYS DO NOT HAVE TO WEAR JACKETS/COATS BUT A TIE IS REQUIRED

·         THIS IS A TIME FOR CELEBRATION HOWEVER AN ACTION THAT IS DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE WILL BE DELT WITH ACCORDINGLY. FOR EXAMPLE ACTIONS SUCH AS TAKING SELFIES WHILE CROSSING THE STAGE, DANCING, STRUTING, OR MAKING HAND GESTURES WHILE CROSSING THE STAGE WILL BE SEEN AS INAPPROPRIATE. IF YOU HAVE TO ASK YOURSELF IF SOMETHING IS INAPPROPRIATE IT PROBABLY IS SO DON’T DO IT.

·         YOU MAY NOT DECORATE YOUR CAP. IF YOUR CAP IS DECORATED YOU WILL BE ROMOVED FROM THE GRADUATION LINE AND NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.

·         PLEASE INFORM YOUR PARENTS THAT ALL NOISE MAKERS ARE PROHIBITED AND IF USED THE ITEMS WILL BE CONFISCATED AND YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CEREMONY. ALL BAGS WILL BE SEARCHED UPON ENTERING THE ARENA AND THOSE ITEMS PROHIBITED WILL BE REMOVED
