Concert Choir

The OHS Beginning Choir is offered to incoming freshmen and students interested in participating in upper-level choirs at OHS. The choir is open to all students and required for all students that need to improve their music reading abilities. The choir performs in two public performances with other choral groups per semester.

Membership Requirements for Beginning Choir: No Requirements needed

The OHS Concert Choir is an auditioned group of grades 10-12. Auditions are usually held at the beginning of each term. Any student interested in auditioning may see Mr. Miller in the chorus room #302 to set up a time and receive additional information about the process.

Membership Requirements for the Concert Choir: Audition. Singers do not have to have experience in the OHS Choir, but it is preferred! You must possess a positive attitude and self-discipline and be a team player.

Church Event: Each year, the chorus performs for various functions, such as 'Carols by Candlelight' 'Christmas at the Courthouse' Morning Pointe events, Church, business and community events, and a final Spring Concert held each year at the Ooltewah United Methodist Church.

Opportunities:

  • Concert Choir is the primary vocal ensemble at Ooltewah High School. They perform with other high school groups from the Chattanooga area. Concert Choir hosts several university choirs throughout the year to perform for the OHS choral students.
  • They also participate in the ETVA J.B. Lyle Choral Festival as well as the ACDA Tennessee State Choral Festival. In addition to participating in performances in the southeastern Tennessee area the Concert Choir takes tours of other parts of the Southeast participating in choral festivals.

Donation Opportunities: If anyone is interested in inviting the OHS Chorus to perform at an upcoming function or would like to make a donation to our program, please contact Mr. Jonathan Miller at (423) 238-5221 #2309 for a list of acceptable venues or items for donation. The OHS Chorus takes pride in representing our school in the community and appreciate any opportunity to perform.
