Graduation Requirements

Graduation Requirements.

  • The Single Path graduation requirements apply to students who enter 9th grade in Fall 2005 (Class of 2009) and later.
  • Graduation requirements (number of credits) for transfer students will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • Students in the Exceptional Education program must meet IEP requirements.
  • Beginning with the class of 2013, all Exceptional Education students must earn the prescribed 22 credits minimum. 
  • All students who plan to participate in athletics must pass at least six (6) classes each year.

Class of 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025:

  • English: 4 credits.
  • Mathematics: 4 credits (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and 1 advanced math classes) Students must take math each school year.
  • Science: 3 credits (Biology, Chemistry or Physics and 1 other lab-science classes).
  • Social Studies: 3 credits (World History & Geography, U.S. History, and 1/2 credit US Government and 1/2 credit Economics).
  • Wellness: 1 credit or 2 credits in JROTC (LET 1 & LET 2).
  • P.E.: .5 credit.
  • Personal Finance: .5 credit.
  • Foreign Language: 2 credits (same language).
  • Fine Arts: 1 credit.
  • Elective Focus: 3 credits.
  • Electives: 5 credits.

Total: 27 credits

Elective Focuses: Courses used to satisfy elective focus requirements can not include courses taken to satisfy core requirements.

  • AP: Any combination of three (3) credits in AP Course above the classes listed above as core graduation requirements.
  • Technical/Career: Three (3) credits for the program of study. Where only 3 credits are required, the 4th credit will be an elective credit.
  • Humanities: Three (3) credits in Literature, History, Foreign Language, Journalism, JROTC.
  • Fine Arts: Three (3) credits in Fine Art classes above the 1 required for graduation.
  • Math/Science: Three (3) credits in math or science above the ones required for graduation
  • Intervention: Three (3) intervention classes as written in the IEP
  • Transition: Three (3) transition classes as written in the IEP

Grade Classification:

  • Freshman (9th grade): 0-5 credits.
  • Sophomore (10th Grade): 6-11 credits.
  • Junior (11th Grade): 12-19 credits.
  • Senior (12th Grade): 20 or more credits.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Only those students within graduation range at the end of the current school year may be promoted to senior status mid-year.
  • Students should meet with their school counselor to insure that course selections meet graduation requirements.
  • Only seniors in good standing with at least 24 credits and at least a 3.5 GPA may elect to be an aid one period during the school year. This senior privilege may be revoked at anytime at the discretion of the administration.

ALL SCHEDULE CHANGES REQUIRE A PARENT'S SIGNATURE AND ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL.
The following will be considered valid reasons for schedule changes:

  • If graduation is in jeopardy.
  • If you are scheduled for a course you have already passed.
  • If you have an incomplete schedule.
  • If you have not met pre-requisites for a course on your schedule.
